Overhaul

Mon Feb 2, 2009, 1:42 PM
It's been a while, (as always) since I've uploaded anything substantial to my DevART account and really, for months I was just uploading random bits that didn't seem to fit anywhere else. Most of the work that was on here spanned a great deal of time and to be frank, the majority of it was shit. Ok, "shit" is a little harsh, but I feel like my work has improved a great deal and most of the stuff on here just looked dated.

Being who I am, I'm always trying to do something different. It may sound great to some, but more often than not I find it quite frustrating. I see/hear* something and I want to know whether I can do it myself. But it's not long before I'm introduced to something new and I'm off on another tangent. That will never change, but I hope to bring a bit more consistency to my work from now on.

Last year I built a (fairly crude) portfolio website whilst I was looking for a job in graphic design. Thankfully it, (and weeks of job hunting) paid off and now I'm officially a 'junior graphic designer'. So now that the pressure is off, (to get money to stay alive) and my technically skills are improving on a daily basis, I feel it is a good time to start anew.

I don't actually know what I'm going to do just yet. I'm sure I'll still dabble in various visual mediums/genres. I just hope to control my output more and hopefully deliver something I like for more than a week.

God knows who actually reads my journal on here... either way, thank you for your time.

I have little time to do any visual work that isn't for someone else. I won't be putting up anything I've done at work, (for many reasons). Any visual projects I have are still on-going. I want my DevART page to be a portfolio of graphic art, but my time is all in work and audio stuff.

Nice to see you back on here though.

Fair enough.

What version of Cubase do you have?

SX1... considerably old now, but it does what I need it to. I use other bits and bobs to make my noises too.

OK... I might be getting a newer version of it but I have no clue what or how to do anything on it... I just want to play about a bit really. Is it possible to make anything reasonable without a Midi keyboard or something?
